Story
Sam was at work with my mum when he started complaining of back ache and so decided to walk the short journey home. A few minutes later someone called my mum to say my brother had fallen over just up the road. She arrived in the car to find him lying on the ground and he was saying he couldn't move. My mum called 999 and was told take him straight to the local hospital. When he got there he had several xrays and tests done to try and work out what was causing it. After many hours of sitting and waiting, it was decided that he should be transferred to a hospital over an hour away. During the journey in the ambulance the blue lights were put on and they sped past traffic, it became apparent to mum that the situation was a bit more than a trip to A&E. On arrival they had to wait in the ambulance for more than an hour as the hospital had not been notified they were coming. Eventually they were taken to the MRI department but had another long wait as there were no porters to help move him for the MRI. After a full body scan he was then moved to another hospital another hour away. The next day after several more scans and tests my parents and Sam met with the Doctor who said it was either a spinal stroke, a virus or an injury as a result of a knock he'd had, it was pretty clear that they were clueless as to what it was. After a few weeks it was decided that he should have Plasma Dialysis. During one treatment session he went into Peri-Arrest (Minor Heart Attack) which took 4 hours to stabalise, eventually they were able to finish the treatment but Sam was very unwell as a result and it proved ineffective to his condition. After an unsuccessful time in rehab he has now been moved back home after months away. However a few weeks ago the landlord of our house said he wants to sell so modifying the house for Sam is not an option. We need to raise money to buy equipment for Sam to make his quality of life more comfortable, however at the moment his recovery is not guaranteed.
