Story
For seven years now, a team of us have been raising funds to support Namphungo Community Day Secondary School in rural Malawi. Thanks to regular and one-off contributors, the School now has a science lab, for the first time ever offering students the chance to properly learn science. The challenge now is to supply the equipment and materials to bring it into full use.
Mr Mukhula (Head of Science) and Mr Tambala (Headteacher) have drawn up a comprehensive list of requirements which they need to make the most of the new lab. The estimated cost is likely to be in excess of £1000. There is very little state funding for schools in Malawi, so they are relying on our assistance to help them get the resources to make this happen.
So ... I am participating in the Glasgow Santa Dash on Sunday 11 December. I will be running 5K dressed as Santa, complete with beard and hat, in the hope that you will make a contribution towards the Malawi science lab in return. My husband Richard is also taking part and is crowdfunding another £500 to go to the science lab.
Every donation will make a difference to educational opportunities for the students of Namphungo. Please do give whatever you feel you can. Many thanks - zikomo!
