Story
Farrah needs our help to get off the streets and to get to her recently deceased father's grave.
20 years ago, Farrah left Iran as a political refugee and took asylum in Canada. In the winter of 2014, Farrah fell ill with bronchitis and then developed pneumonia. Due to prolonged illness and absence from work, she lost her job. She is now homeless and was relying on friends who let her sleep on their couch while trying to make ends meet by doing any jobs she could get. Most recently, she was working as a cook at a homeless shelter where she often stays when there is space. Farrah carries all of her important documents and personal belongings on herself in her purse at all times since she has no permanent place to call home. Last month, while on the streets, a motorcycle sped toward her and intentionally ran her over, knocking her onto the ground. One of the two riders on the motorcycle grabbed her purse as she fought to hold onto it, but the rider was able to pry it out of her hands by kicking her senseless. Farrah was found on the sidewalk with broken ribs, a broken leg and a broken will to live. She has just been released from hospital, unable to work due to limited mobility, to find out her father has passed away in Iran. The only way she can go manage/settle what is left of his estate, which might save her from her homelessness and financial situation, is to apply for and receive Iranian documents which allow her into the country. Please help Farrah with the costs of these documents and to get a flight to Iran so she might bid her father farewell and find a way out of her despair.
