Story
Nottingham City Airfield, a thriving General Aviation hub with its rich heritage and community services, is under threat! Plans have been submitted to demolish it, in order to build up to 4000 homes on the site and around.
There are 3 busy flight training schools (one rotary, two fixed wing), a flying club, a very popular cafe with viewing area for the general public, ground ops staff, an engineering works and two aircraft repair and maintenance works - all of which are threatened. The Air Training Corps of the RAF also have squadron based at the airfield, and the facilities support flight training nationwide as well as curricula at the Air and Space Institute.
The airport provides the night landing and refuelling capability for the Air Ambulance, serving the regional Trauma Hub of Queens Medical Centre. It is also used by the Police as well as the National Grid for its surveying activity. Private passenger operators also bring people into and out of Nottingham too- the city centre being only 2 miles away.
All of this would be lost, and more besides… all the potential for economic growth and investment, in green technologies, advancing the future of flight and passenger transport.
We need to raise awareness of the critical issues involved, and this means producing publicity materials… leaflets, stickers, T-Shirts and so on. Every extra person we can reach is another person who can put pressure on our councillors to help Save Nottingham Airfield!
We also need access legal advice from specialists in planning law to make sure our proceeding as effectively as possible.
Thank you so much for your help and support- it is greatly appreciated!
