I'm raising £35000 to save The Major’s Wood, our precious natural space. Please help us take legal action to stop the Council breaking local and national rules.

Save Our Green Space – Help Protect Invergordon's Last Wild Greenspace .
Our Mission: Save Our Green Space (SOGS) is a community group that formed to fight a housing development threatening our town’s last remaining wild, traffic-free greenspace. This area, central to our community’s heritage and wellbeing, is at risk of being lost forever. Our mission is to safeguard this historical and biodiverse space and hold decision-makers accountable for their actions.
We are in the midst of a climate and environmental emergency, and now, more than ever, we must act to protect the land that sustains us. We have national and local policies that place the protection of the environment and climate at the heart of decision-making. However, despite these policies and the legal processes, developments are still being approved without proper consideration, bypassing essential checks and balances.
Why We Need Your Help: We’ve dedicated hundreds of hours learning about planning policies and consulting with experts and legal professionals. Our case is strong, rooted in the dismissal of policy, flawed ecological surveys, and misleading information about the Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport and housing.
Despite our solicitor informing the Council of their obligations, and against the policies they are committed to upholding, the Planning Committee approved the development for a second time on March 12th 2025. We have now been left with no choice but to bring a Judicial Review against Highland Council Planning Authority.
But we need your help to do this.
Why This Matters: This is not just about losing a small town’s greenspace. It’s about setting a precedent for the protection of greenfield sites across Scotland. Our fight highlights a much larger issue—continued development that ignores both local and national policies, and the devastating environmental consequences that follow. Our case is an opportunity to make sure that such decisions will not go unchecked in the future.
What We Need: Taking the Highland Council to court through Judicial Review is essential to protect our greenspace, but it comes with a high price tag.
