    Story

People living with chronic respiratory and lung conditions face on-going daily challenges. I'm working with the Breathe Easy Support Group in Sheringham to help improve the lung conditions of people living in and around Sheringham while raising their spirits and providing a fun, social activity at the same time!

The Chair of the support group (and respiratory nurse specialist), Mandy Beresford, knows only too well how existing research evidences the benefits that singing can bring to people suffering from lung and respiratory conditions. This is why myself and my colleague, George Crawley, have teamed up with Breathe Easy members to launch this new singing group. By raising this money, we can secure at least one whole year's worth of singing workshops!

The sessions will require no previous singing or musical experience and will be designed to allow anyone to participate. All being well, I will attend a dedicated training course in April, run by the British Lung Foundation, to ensure the sessions are designed to maximise the benefits singing can bring to participants' lung health and their general wellbeing, which can significantly influence their qualities of life on a daily basis. To this end, members will be encouraged to sing daily, between sessions!

Please help us raise funds to really kick-start this new singing group. The money will be used to help cover running costs including venue hire and tutors' fees. Participants will be asked to contribute to the costs of running the sessions too, to help raise funds too and make the sessions sustainable in the longer term. However, we feel it is important that no-one will be excluded on the basis of ability to pay. Additional funds raised once the workshops commence just means that the money raised through crowdfunding will go further and allow the number of sessions to be increased or we will have the assurance that they can continue over a longer time period.
