Fundraiser Supporting the Al Quds Charitable Centre

The aim of this fundraiser is to raise awareness about the pressing challenges faced by the people living in a refugee camp in Palestine and to mobilise support for the The Shu’fat Al Quds Charitable Centre .

The Shu’fat Al Quds Charitable Centre is a beacon of hope within the community, providing crucial healthcare services to the local population, particularly to vulnerable groups such as children and disabled residents. However, due to ongoing financial constraints and limited resources, the Centre is in urgent need of support to continue its vital work.

By contributing to this fundraiser, you can make a significant impact. Your donations will go directly towards enhancing the Centre’s capabilities, allowing them to better serve the community in these trying times.

The Al Quds Charitable Centre not only functions as a healthcare provider but also stands as a vital social and cultural hub for the camp.

The Strain on Services

The situation has been exacerbated recently due to external factors affecting the availability of vital services. In January, under pressure from the Israeli government, Western countries suspended aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) which provides essential services to refugees in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The UNRWA headquarters in East Jerusalem was attacked, and as a result, now requires armed guards to ensure its safety.

In Shu’fat camp, the impact of these decisions has been profound. Many UNRWA-run schools have had their activities curtailed, and the health clinic’s services have been significantly reduced. This compounding pressure has stretched the already limited resources of the Al Quds Charitable Centre to its breaking point.

Despite some Western governments resuming funding, the challenges remain daunting. In August, the Israeli parliament passed three bills aimed at closing down UNRWA’s facilities, resulting in unimaginable hardship across all areas of camp activities.

Standing Together

Our friends in Shu’fat have been providing us with regular updates about their tireless work and the persistent threats and restrictions they face daily. They are immensely grateful for the support received from the UK, especially from their enduring friends in Unite Community and others who stand in solidarity with them.

By contributing to this fundraiser, you have the opportunity to support a community in desperate need and help sustain a vital institution. Let’s come together to provide the necessary resources that will allow the Shu’fat Al Quds Centre to continue providing essential healthcare and support services, fostering hope and resilience for all who rely on it.

Thank you for considering making a donation and for standing in support of the Shu’fat community! Your contribution can truly make a difference.
