Story

This year Ninewells Neonatal Unit cared for our baby daughter Skye after she arrived 10 weeks early. Skye's windpipe was very underdeveloped and floppy causing her difficulties when it came to breathing for herself. On 3 occasions Skye became very poorly and required resuscitation due to her wind pipe collapsing. They saved her life!!
This was not the first time i had seen the inside of the neonatal unit, my eldest daughter Chloe now 8 was also born at 30 weeks and was home within 16 days after this fantastic unit also got her thriving.

The doctors and nurses fully supported us through what can only be described as every parents worst nightmare, they were an extension of our family. They love and care for these babies so much, the consultant who resuscitated Skye that afternoon did not leave the hospital that night before Skye was transfered to Glasgow for some specialist attention. We just want to give a little back.

Sooooooooo my dad and I are doing the Kilt walk 25 miles from St Andrew to Dundee. Any little donation would be much appreciated

£1045 reached today, I am so grateful to everyone that has helped us reach this total! It certainly will keep us going on our walk !!!! We would love to see you on the route and joining us for parts if you would like! ❤💕 I went to the premature baby group yesterday and met with some of the babies that we hadn't seen since discharge and it just goes to show what amazing work Ninewells NICU do.

Ahhhhh just over 2 weeks to go !!!!! Wishing it would stop raining, my kilt is ordered so at least I will look the part! This means so much to me and I thank everyone that has made a donation. Hopefully grandad Ken's dodgey knees hold up!!!! Xx

So I am out all the time with Skye in the pram racking up the miles with my fitbit on! Just thought I would update you also on why the Ninewells Nicu is so important to me. We left on the 15th April which was also Skye's due date after 9 weeks and 4 days, they Don't just send you on your way and hope for the best. We are visited once sometimes twice a week by Moira our neonatal liaison nurse and we also see the consultant, they have become part of our family and they listen to me mum too. Ninewells Nicu is almost part of our family now. X
