Story

Our new pathway.

We are creating a new pathway which aims to streamline access to free Mental Health Therapy for young people experiencing mental health difficulties.

Through our discussions with healthcare professionals we have identified at-risk demographics (16-18 year olds) who are slipping through the cracks between CAMHS (Child and Adolescent mental health services) & AMHS (Adult mental health services) systems.

These organisations are already doing incredible work so our goal is to help fortify the current structure and work to support these areas suffering the most strain.

Together with GPs and therapists, we’re creating a brand new pathway for these young minds to gain help and refuge through free access to mental health therapy; through direct referrals from their GP.

By creating our new pathway we hope to help dissolve some of the common barriers young people face by:

- Easing strain on CAMHS by reducing the amount of young people depending on a single pathway

- Financing the full cost of therapy appointments

- Streamlining access to therapists directly via GPs

- Reducing the stigma of mental health through events that raise awareness

- Creating a mentoring program by establishing a local community of young leaders to act as a support system for vulnerable young adults

We need your support

When Smls was first conceptualised, our aim was to create a safe platform that the community could support and see as its own. That is why we have become a Community Interest Company; a company that is built and supported by the community, specifically to support young people within that community.

Becoming a CIC also gives us the benefit of being governed by an independent regulator. Our hope is that this gives clarity to our intentions and confidence in our vision. You can find out more about CICs and the Regulatory here: Community Interest Company

The funds we raise go directly to:

- Paying for mental health therapy for young people

- Creating events to reduce the stigma around mental health

- Establishing a mentoring program in the local community

You can help by getting involved in our events which you can find on our instagram @smlsgoods, purchasing goods from our local sponsors and donating directly via this page.

Our new pathway is a cause absolutely worthy of your support - please contribute if you can!
