Story
For the past four years, I've occasionally joined Kev's sessions at The Leg Up Project. However, it wasn't until August 2023, when I was about to take shared paternal leave, that something truly resonated with me. During a session on accountability and goal setting, I realized I needed to take control of my health by setting personal goals and holding myself accountable. I set an ambitious goal for the end of the year, achieved it, and have been reaching new milestones ever since.
To challenge myself further and give back to The Leg Up Project, we've created the Solstice Step Challenge—a daylight walking event.
My brother (Michael) and I will walk from sunrise (04:40) on Saturday, June 22nd, to sunset (21:32)—a grueling 16 hours and 51 minutes of continuous walking. Throughout the day, others will join us in support.
Starting in Blaby, we'll follow the canal path south to Foxton Locks and continue to Norton Junction (Daventry), covering approximately 36 miles (57 km).
The Leg Up Project offers free health and wellbeing services to anyone who lives or works in Leicestershire. We provide adventure therapy, educational wellbeing packages, and one-on-one support. Our only requirement is that participants be 18 or older and reside within Leicestershire.
