Story

I have 30 days left before I turn 30 and, with a 3 month old baby, I thought I would use this time in my life to dedicate my efforts to a cause that works selflessly for others in need.
I will be completing a range of exercises repeated 30 times every day until I am 30. I will post updates daily.

Running a rescue centre is a very expensive business. Not only is there the day to day costs of food bills, electricity bills, rates etc but the biggest expense is the vet’s fees. Many of the animals that arrive at the door are sick and in need of help and no animal leaves without being neutered, microchipped and vet checked. Somerset & Dorset Animal Rescue are a not-for-profit organisation that is run entirely by volunteers and rely on donations from the public to help meet all these costs.

Liz and Colin Stewart are incredibly passionate about what they do, saving the lives of over 34,000 animals! In the 30+ years of running the rescue centre they have managed to home a wide range of animals and birds and give each one a bright new future. In 2007 Liz was even invited to the House of Lords where she received the award for International Animal Rescuer of the Year! There could not have been a more deserving recipient.
(To hear more about Liz and Colin's animal rescue journey take a look on their webpage https://www.somersetanddorsetanimalrescue.co.uk/about-us/ )

The Rescue is, as always, overflowing with dogs, cats, ponies, chickens and rabbits. Each day brings a new arrival and the veterinary fees and food bills keep mounting. Liz and Colin are helped by a very small, but dedicated group of volunteers – there are no paid staff here so fund raising and donations are very important.

Whilst there are animals homeless, suffering or in need Liz and Colin, together with their team, will continue to work tirelessly. If you can donate anything we would be extremely grateful, as would all the animals who you would be helping to send on to their new forever homes.
