Story
As some of you may know, Sophie is behind in her general development. When Sophie was younger she was diagnosed with Torticollis, a muscle problem in the neck, for which she attended physiotherapy. Sophie has also been diagnosed with low muscle tone, however this is not a diagnosis of a problem, rather a symptom of something else, which we have since been told, could be cerebral palsy.
As such Sophie's life has often been spent seeing various different professionals in hospital type environments. Sophie regularly sees a Paediatrician, 2 Physiotherapists, an Occupational Therapist, a Speech and Language Therapist, and a lady from a group called Portage.
We were recently introduced by our Portage worker, to a charity called the PACE Centre (www.thepacecentre.org). This charity helps children and young people with motor disorders, such as cerebral palsy. Having attended an initial assessment at the PACE Centre, Sophie has been offered a block of 6 therapy sessions, based around developmentally appropriate activities and sensory integration strategies.
This is where we are now asking for your help. Whilst it is a charity, and the initial assessment is free, the therapy sessions are chargeable, and cost a total of £250 every 6 sessions. We ask if anyone can spare just a little something to help give our daughter the help that these therapy sessions will offer her.
We would like to take this moment to thank anyone in advance who can assist us, and we will of course keep you all updated with Sophie's progress.
