Riding for a Cause: Sowerbys' Charity Cycling Challenge
As part of a year-long pledge to support five Norfolk charities which play a vital role in shaping our community, Sowerbys team will ride around 125 miles in just two days!
Led by Peter Hurrell, our Land and New Homes Director, the team will pedal their way through a route connecting all five charities and visiting each of Sowerbys' nine branches.
Peter said: “We aim to warm up with a shorter ride of around 25 miles, weaving our way across the city, taking in each of our five chosen charities, whilst also stopping to say hello to the Sowerbys team in our Norwich office.
The big challenge starts the next day! As we ride in earnest, heading out early from our King’s Lynn office, visiting our colleagues along the way at our offices in Hunstanton, Burnham Market, Wells-next-the-Sea, Holt, Fakenham, Dereham and Watton, before heading back to finish our 100+mile ride to where we started in Kings Lynn.
“Alas! The goal is not just measured in miles but in the positive impact the team can collectively make.
“Every donation made to ‘Riding for a Cause’, large or small, will help us make a difference and will be recognised by the addition of the doners branding emblazoned on our cycling jerseys on the day.”
The chosen charities, carefully selected to cover a range of vital community services, are:
- Nelson's Journey, supporting children and young people in Norfolk who’ve experienced the death of a significant person.
- St Martins Housing Trust, helping the homeless build a better life in Norwich and Norfolk.
- The Big C, a local, people-first charity committed to providing outstanding cancer support.
- Mind - Norfolk and Waveney, the mental health charity believes no one should face a mental health problem alone.
- East Anglian Air Ambulance, your local life-saving charity covering Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Bedfordshire.

Now’t Back From The Man in Black (aka Peter Hurrell, leader of the peloton). I received an email asking if I would like to take part, to which I replied, but unfortunately, there was no reply. 👎
