Spadgerfest has always been about celebrating our local legend Matt Evans who sadly passed away on New years day 2022 following a second battle with Cancer.

The festival originated to allow us to raise funds to enable him to create lasting memories with his kids in the last months of his life following the devastating news that the cancer was terminal. We promised Matt that we would continue to raise funds to support his children in the years that followed and we have kept our promise, allowing us to put on one hell of a shindig each year so that we can all unite and throw a party to celebrate the legend that he was.

This year we will be going back to our roots to help another Local family and dear friend in a time of need. In February of this year, the unthinkable happened. A long time friend of mine, a best friend to on one our Spadgerfest rafflettes and a life long friend of DJ Timmy, Nicola Bradley, was given a diagnosis of terminal cancer.

For the past 2 years since Matt’s death, we have split any money raised equally - half going to Callum and Cerys and half to the charity that helped Matt following his diagnosis.This year we would like to split the money raised from Spadgerfest a little differently, with half going to Callum and Cerys to allow us to continue to fulfil our promise to Matt, and the other half we would like to give to Nicola and her daughter Ella, so that they too can be relieved of any money worries during treatment and allow them to create some fantastic memories when Nicky is able.

We feel extremely fortunate that we can continue to provide such an Epic Gig for the folk of Chesterfield in memory of our beloved Matt, but it feels even more special that we are able to help out another friend in a time of need. Needless to say this is going to be one hell of a party!

This year Spadgerfest will be held at the Britannia Inn, Old Road, Brampton on Saturday 7th September 2024.
