Firstly, let me introduce myself - My name is Becky McClean and I am the owner/manager of Special Steps Ltd.

Special Steps is a nursery provision for children with complex special needs, challenging behaviours, disabilities, medical conditions, and palliative care needs. We are - in fact, the only nursery in the whole of Worcestershire of its kind, and one of very few across the country.

Now, let me explain why we are reaching out to you – We currently run in a lovely, well adapted building but unfortunately, have reached our capacity with the number of children we can care for there. We have an ever-growing waiting list of children and families desperate for our support and we really hope to be able to raise the funds necessary to be able to lease a much larger premises, which would enable us to double or maybe even treble in size.

We rely on childcare funding provided by the council to run, so as not to cause financial burden for the parents and as the childcare sector is so massively underfunded – this does not provide us with adequate funding for the additional costs we will incur in our attempts to expand.

We will be doing various fundraising events ourselves and are reaching out to as many people/places as possible – but obviously the cost of creating a safe, quality setting to provide these children with the opportunity to get the support and an education they deserve, comes quite high – This is where we need your help!
