The Arts in schools are being ousted! Right now there is little hope of any change in education policy.

Arts education and experience will soon be missing from our children's lives. I believe passionately in the positive social and personal benefits of working with young people in a creative and collaborative way. As a drama teacher I want to extend and share the theatre making experience with more young people outside of school.

My intention is to set up a theatre group that performs regularly within my local community allowing young people to become a part of the whole process. Initially in performance and production roles and eventually expanding this to include writing and project management roles.

My experience of many successful performances whilst a teacher has shown me that these experiences can build immeasurable confidence and shape the futures of young people. In a society of mobile phones and consoles I want to bring back positive communication and teamwork as valuable skills equivalent to those academic ones learnt in school.
I believe in the power of theatre and I believe young people need a creative voice. I want to set up a theatre company that show them what they are capable of!
