In rural Uganda, a mother, son and daughter devote their lives to caring for 46 children.
I was so touched by their compassion and selflessness that I visited them and the children.
My heart remains there!
I was struck by the integrity and generosity of Mugalu Kamya Ronald; a gentle and humble man of God, and we kept in touch.
When Kamya was 14 and his sister Janat was 7, their father’s life was tragically taken when he was hit by a speeding bus.
Along with their mother, Amina they set up an orphanage on their small maize farm.
The family gives up much of their time, and modest income to care for 23 orphans, and 23 other single-guardian children.
They all live a basic life, many without shoes; ripped clothes; no education; sickness such as typhoid due to stagnant water shared with animals, and malaria as a result of not having mosquito nets; sleeping head-to-toe with only a thin blanket between them and concrete and when times are good, largely living off simple rations like rice and beans.
But they are grateful to have escaped lives too distressing to ponder.
You have the opportunity to be part of a happy ending.
