Story
St Peter's, Preston Park, Brighton is a grade 2* listed 750-year-old church. It's a beautiful gem and is treasured by the community. It's no longer in use for regular religious services but can be hired for events and celebrations. Our voluntary group, the Friends of St Peter's, helps look after the church and keeps it open every day for all to enjoy. The church contains 3 ancient murals, one of which - the murder of Thomas Becket - is rare.
Our current lighting system is poor, dull, mostly not working. Our voluntary group is responsible for the lighting and want it replaced with greener, cheaper LED lighting. It will transform the church interior and enable everyone to really appreciate the beautiful stencilling, its beams and of course the precious murals.
The total cost of the new lighting will be £25,000. The Friends of St Peter's have contributed £10,000; Pride have generously given £1,000. Donors and contributions from events have raised even more, so now we just need to raise £11,500.
So, shut out the dark - turn on the light and help to give this wonderful little building the bright illumination it deserves - both now and for the future!
