I'm raising £1065 to Ensure the community is considered in regard to the recent application to extend Bonnington Quarry

“The proposal to expand Bonnington Mains Quarry is clearly unsuitable for the small community it surrounds
Edinburgh West MP Christine Jardine has criticised the Scottish Government’s response to concerned Ratho residents about the proposed extension of Bonnington Mains Quarry
We are objecting to the extension of Bonnington Quarry, Bonnington Ratho – situated alongside the B7030 and the Wilkieston Road. If planning is granted this will impact on air quality, wildlife, increased heavy lorry traffic, noise, and dust, together with a loss of agricultural land and a significant impact on the landscape.
There is real concern that historic buildings within the area will be damaged by blasting. Within the planning application notice, permission is being sought to relocate a large recycling plant from Pumpherston and placed in Bonnington Quarry.
On its own this will add large numbers of huge lorries to the already over used B7030. If the planning application is successful the life of the quarry and associated works will be extended until 2050.
The above Quarry is situated in an area designated countryside by Edinburgh Council and at the centre of a “Recreational Triangle” that includes Jupiter Artland, the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, and the soon to be completed Lost Shore Surf Resort.
We are raising money to support Stop the Bonnington Quarry Expansion campaign.
Thank you in advance for your support
