    Story

This gorgeous girl who loves football, almost as much as chocolate is going to give up all added sugar for 6 weeks.

Not because she wants to but because I (her mum) asked her to try it.

I work for the Children's Food Trust and am passionate (as are they) about improving the diet and health of children. The childhood Obesity strategy has highlighted the problems faced by children eating too much sugar but it's pretty addictive stuff and very easily available.

Sophie, and her friend Lucy, are going to completely give it up, so no chocolate, sweets, puddings, processed foods, flavoured crisps, fruity yoghurts, bagels, tomato ketchup, mayonnaise etc etc. It really is surprising, when you start to look, just how many foods contain added sugar - even savoury ones.

They will do this for 6 weeks and Sophie will blog about it for The Children's Food Trust so other children can see that it might be difficult but that it is possible, hopefully!

I'm hoping it will improve her attention, concentration and stop her from feeling tired. I'm hoping she will feel amazing and understand why I keep telling her to cut down on the rubbish she eats and wasting her money on chocolate and pop.

She's hoping it will shut me up!!!
.......and she'll be rewarded with encouragement gifts
.......and she wants to raise money for The Trust - £656 will support a cooking club for a year. We've taught millions of children and families how to cook healthy meals from scratch and want to keep on doing so

Please support them with this challenge. If you know Sophie you'll understand what a sacrifice she is making and if you don't - well you probably know a teenager who wouldn't dream of giving up sugar - especially over the Easter period!!!

So please - donate the cost of a decent choccy bar or cake. Feel free to donate more but please help Sophie and Lucy because I promised them people would!!!

Sophie and Lucy got through the holiday with no ice-cream, sweets, chocolate or even pizza (pretty much all contain sugar!) They didn't have much wifi either, but that's another story!! Sophie has been drinking copious amounts of Pepsi Max to help her through and this isn't ideal so she has agreed to keep that just for the weekends for the last two weeks of the challenge......I am amazed (again). These girls have embraced this challenge, I promised people would be impressed so please show them you are with a little donation, thank you x

Here they are - the holiday girls posing outside one of loads of ice cream shops. They're smiling on the outside but crying on the inside......and I know the feeling!! No sugar but still plenty of fun and no lack of energy! 😂

We will be adding a little more information about Lucy next week as her and Sophie are going on holiday together (with me) to Cornwall. This will be delightful, because if they can't eat ice-cream, I guess that means I can't either! So far the girls are doing exceptionally well and I haven't had any moaning. First few days Sophie felt a little unwell - headaches and slight dizziness and she was "starving!" but that lasted about 5 days maximum. Sophie even attended a family party where she happily helped set up the chocolate fountain :)
