I've raised £3000 to fund the Now on Earth Youth Adventure Grant for 2024/25. The grant enables young people to experience life-changing adventures!

Support our intrepid team in the 2024 self-supported/self-funded, fundraising challenge ‘Summit to City’, in aid of the Now on Earth Youth Adventure Grant! The team will be cycling from Mount Triglav to Mostar, crossing 3 countries and climbing 3 mountains on foot along the route!
The Now on Earth Youth Adventure Grant (NOEYAG) is aimed at supporting young adults (18-24) who wish to undertake an adventurous expedition, and small charitiable organisations who take young people into wilderness for adventure experiences. We believe that adventure can have a hugely positive and long-term impact on self-confidence, resilience and fulfilment. By giving young people the opportunity to challenge themselves, adventure can lead them to uncover new perspectives, develop stronger social connections, lessen anxiety, increase self-belief, and access deeper levels of resilience. We encourage our applicants to tell the story of their adventure on their return, by means of a blog post or short film which we share on the nowonearth.com website, in order to celebrate their endeavours.
We’re advocates of the #AdventureRevolution and the #AdventureMind movement. At a time when mental health issues, particularly in teens and young adults, are rapidly rising, we hope to give some young people the opportunity to challenge themselves, by removing some of the financial barriers to their endeavours. By offering small grants we hope to make big adventures more accessible to more young people.
We’re currently gathering a small (but determined!) team of mostly midlifers to undertake a self-funded ride through the mountains of Slovenia, along the coast of Croatia and into the mountains of Bosnia & Herzegovina, crossing the ‘finish line’ on reaching the Stari Most bridge in Mostar.
The challenge begins with a 2 day summit route on Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in the Julian Alps. The cycle ride will then commence through the mountains of Slovenia, following in part the new (as yet unreleased) Trans Dinarica cycle route. We cross into Croatia, island hopping the coastal route to Split. Our next mountain beckons in Croatia, where we aim to summit Veliki Kabal, the highest summit on the Mosor massif. The ride then continues across the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina, for a final summit on Veliki Vran, the highest peak in Blidinje Nature Park, before riding on to the city of Mostar. The route is a mix of gravel and road cycling.
The challenge is self-funded, all sponsorship will go directly to the Youth Adventure Grant, which is set up as a crowdfunder.
This year we hope to raise enough funds to split the grant between the usual individual/small team applicants, and also offer a single special grant award (amount dependent on how much we raise with our Summit to City Challenge), which will be open to applications from small charitable organisations that take disadvantaged young people into the outdoors for adventurous experiences.
