Story

We all wanted to finally share with everyone on Facebook a little plan that the 4 of us have hatched in memory of dad.

I’m sure he’ll be laughing down at us with pride, on Sunday the 15th of October, myself, mum, Rachel and Jake will be running the Manchester half marathon in memory of dad.

We didn’t have to think very hard as to where the money raised in his memory will be going…

Dads love of animals was completely unmatched and he always thought himself lucky to be within walking distance of the now aptly named Sunflower Sanctuary. Dad took a lot of comfort in walking by and petting the animals at Sunflower Sanctuary as well as sharing some laughs with the amazingly dedicated Richard Damms whose efforts to helping the animals in his care in unsurpassed.

We also wanted to commemorate the memory of Richard’s late partner Alison who loved the animals at Sunflower Sanctuary as much as dad did. She played a huge role in the animals welfare and happiness as well as them being a huge comfort to her during her illness.

We would like to support the local attraction of Thurgoland that is Sunflower Sanctuary after finding out what TLC is required to improve the field and the lives of the animals there.

We have set up a Just Giving page for donations as 100% of the money raised (no Captain Toms daughter scandal here) will go towards new fencing, a new shed and in time some additional new faces at Sunflower Sanctuary.

The 4 of us would really appreciate it if as many people possible could spare whatever money they can to go towards something that meant a lot to our dad and Alison and/or share this post and get the word out about our cause 🥰

Much love 🌻💛
