Story

Everyone remembers the success of the Superlambanana, which become as popular and beloved a symbol of the city as the Liver birds and is one of the most instantly recognisable pieces of sculpture in Liverpool and across the world.

With the news of Klopp’s departure we created a lasting tribute to Jürgen Klopp and turned our two-metre-high Superlambanana into our very own, only one of it’s kind, ‘Superkloppbanana'.

What better way to represent Jürgen Klopp’s personality, his popularity, love of Liverpool and love by the people of Liverpool, as well as his charisma, wit, infectious personality, infectious smile and his undeniable success at the club, than by turning our Superlambanana into our very own ‘adopted scouser’.

We took ‘Superkloppbanana’ on a special tour on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May 2024, encouraging donations along the way for the LFC Foundation and the Jamie Carragher 23 Foundation.

The tour proved a hit and brought a smile to many people, giving everyone the chance to grab a selfie or two in return for a charity donation. It was an emotional weekend, but we managed to spread a bit of joy across the city, whilst raising money for both Charities who do incredible work throughout Liverpool and beyond.

We managed to raise an initial £256.35 for the BTR Charity on the day at the RFT97 event in Stanley Park. This has gone directly to them, the official beneficiary charities being Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation, LFC Foundation, and Stanley Park junior parkrun.

The rest of the donations continue to be made here. We hope to continue to raise fund for both charities using the sculpture at future events.

Alongside this a ‘Superkloppbanana’ merchandise shop has also been set up, selling unique keepsakes, a percentage of which will continue to go to the charities, www.superkloppbanana.co.uk

If you miss seeing the Superkloppbanana in person, it will remain on public display outside its final home…‘Fitwell on Smithdown Road’. If anyone can support this great cause it will be very much appreciated.
