Nancy's Story
Hello everyone,
We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support our brave niece, Nancy. Nancy fell and broke her arm in June this year and after scans and a biopsy recieved a confirmed diagnosis of osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer in her upper left arm. She started intensive chemotherapy treatment on the 3rd August and has been very unwell with the treatment and unable to leave Bristol Children's Hospital. She is due to have surgery in Birmingham Children’s Hospital in October to replace her humerus bone with a metal one. Following the surgery, Nancy will face another four rounds (20weeks) of chemotherapy. The treatment has hit her hard and she has suffered with horrible side effects of hair loss, mouth and stomach issues and severe weight loss.
Why We Need Your Help
Nancy’s journey has been incredibly tough, but she has shown remarkable strength and resilience. Nancy needs one of her parents to always be with her. Her mum, Cathy, has stopped her psychotherapy training and closed her private practice to be by Nancy’s side. Cathy and Rik share the responsibility of being in the hospital with Nancy, with Cathy staying during the week and her dad taking over on weekends. Her brother Hugo visits at the weekend.
As her family, we want to ensure that once she finishes her treatment, she can enjoy life to the fullest and catch up on the experiences she has missed.
This fund will help us provide:
Cover for the extra costs for the family e.g. Transport, food in hospital, wheelchair hire, therapy costs.
But also, more importantly
• Memorable Trips and experiences for Nancy : To create joyful memories and give Nancy the chance to be with her family and have some things to look forward to once she is in recovery.
• Rehabilitation costs: Tuition to help Nancy catch up on almost a year of schoolwork and ensure she doesn’t fall behind academically due to her prolonged absence. Therapy and counselling to give Nancy the psychological support to recover from a very traumatic year.
How You Can Help
Your contributions will make a significant difference in Nancy’s recovery and future. Every donation, no matter the size, will bring us closer to giving Nancy the bright and happy future she deserves.
Thank You
We are deeply grateful for your support and kindness during this challenging time. Your help means the world to us and will provide Nancy with the opportunities she needs to thrive after her treatment.
With heartfelt thanks,
The Miles/Ashton/Lyall Family 🥰
