I've raised £500 to Provide healthy meals

The Talita Kum orphanage in Lima, Peru is home to over twenty abandoned and vulnerable children. Many of the children have had difficult experiences including the loss of parents, domestic and sexual violence.
Since 2014, Sister Maria has devoted her life to providing a safe and nurturing space for the children, promoting their education, personal and spiritual growth.
The home receives no government support and relies on donations from the local community and the support from three volunteers. The children help make cookies and other items which are sold to help with the upkeep.
The home has two large rooms, one for sleeping and the other for eating, homework and playing.
Support
The home has an acute lack of funds and therefore is constantly having to prioritise food, clothing, school transport, education materials and medical care. The home needs financial support to reduce the uncertainty each month and give greater stability and quality of life, starting with the very basics.
Priority 1: Nutrition
The home relies heavily on food donations from the local community. This is not guaranteed and the children’s diet can vary significantly.
Priority 2: Clothing
Clothing and shoes in particular are always needed. This is not only functional, but important for the children’s dignity, particularly at school.
Priority 3: Education
In Peru, school children need to provide their own books, pens and other materials. This places an additional demand on the home at the start of each school year.
The rising cost of school transport further increases the financial pressure.
Priority 4:
Several of the children have medical conditions. Medical care needs to be paid for in Peru and unexpected medical bills can mean cutting back on food and other necessities.
Thank you for looking.
