Story

On the 22nd June 2024 I'm tackling my toughest ever challenge, Coast to Coast in a day, cycling 150 miles from Ravenglass in Cumbria to Whitby in North Yorkshire.

This is by some distance the furthest I have cycled in one day, not to mention tackling 4000M of elevation, including the fearsome Hardknott Pass, often referred to as the hardest climb in England. Thankfully I won't be alone however, as my good friend David Woodhead is mad enough to be joining me on this epic journey. We are also doing the RideLondon (100 miles) as a 'warm up' at the end of May!

In attempting this feat, I'm requesting donations to a cause which is very close to my heart, Tarvin Pre-School and Day Nursery. I'm proud to be a Director of this excellent local charity, which provides safe, fun and engaging day care for pre-school children, along with breakfast/tea clubs and school holiday camps.

Both my daughters, Natalie and Evie, have spent many happy days at the Pre School so I've seen first hand just how dedicated the staff are to assisting the development of all children, ensuring they are ready to take their next steps into primary school.

Due to severe rising costs and insufficient government support, like many charities Tarvin Pre School faces major funding challenges, typically running at a deficit and therefore heavily reliant on fundraising. I'm asking you to please donate whatever you can spare to enable the Pre School to continue supporting young children for many years to come.
