Story

Team Balnain is taking part in the Baxter's 5K on Sunday 1st October!

Pupils, staff, parents, friends and family are coming together to fundraise for our special friend, Ailsa Fraser. Ailsa is a former classmate, with so many wonderful skills and talents that we admire, and she along with her brothers, will always be life-long members of our close-knit Balnain Primary School family.

In July this year, 9-year-old Ailsa and her family received her devastating diagnosis of osteosarcoma (bone cancer). In a short space of a few weeks their lives were turned upside down. Ailsa has had to relocate to Glasgow, around 170 miles from home. As a result, her family has been separated and her three older brothers have had to move to new schools here in the Highlands. Ailsa has already had to endure several gruelling rounds of chemotherapy treatment and on-going significant medical intervention for this aggressive disease.

Now, Ailsa is having to adjust to some unimaginable changes in her life and has recently learned that she will undergo life-changing surgery by having her right arm and shoulder amputated.

We would like to raise some money for Ailsa and her family, to make life that little bit easier, as they go through the toughest of times, facing some of the biggest and most frightening challenges of all.

If you would like to support us, we would welcome any donations on their behalf.

We would suggest that donation amounts on our Just Giving Page remain anonymous - people can give what they are able to afford. However, we would welcome all messages of love and support for Ailsa and her family at this time. Thank you so much for your support!
