On Friday 16th September 2016 at four and a half years old, our beautiful niece and cousin Nicole was diagnosed with Batten Disease, an extremely rare neurodegenerative condition for which there is currently no cure.

Nicole's condition meant that she experienced frequent seizures and gradually lost her mobility and independent skills. Despite bravely battling with this heartbreaking condition and receiving fortnightly treatment to slow the progression of the disease, Nicole sadly passed away on 23rd of October 2023 aged just 11, leaving behind her devoted family; mam Gail, dad Matthew, loving big brother Louis and little sister Jessica.

Tragically, Jessica is also going through her own battle with Batten disease, so #TeamRich are participating in the Glasgow Kiltwalk this year in Nicole's memory and to raise funds for the Nicole and Jessica Rich Foundation, that will help Nicole's family make memories together and to meet Jessica's needs and care for her as her illness progresses in the future.

We couldn't be prouder of Nicole and Jessica and how Gail, Matthew and Louis deal with the many challenges they face as a result of this heartbreaking condition. The love and courage they show each day is nothing short of an inspiration. Join us by showing your support and being part of #TeamRich!
