Story
In the wake of the horrific war that is currently on going in Ukraine, we recently started a donation campaign from Peeld, our Small business based in Orford Road Walthamstow. We have already taken a truck load of donations ready to be delivered directly to Poland and distributed by our parents who are actively volunteering at the borders.
We have quickly become overwhelmed with the kindness and support we have already received from the local Walthamstow residents and cannot thank you all enough.
We are committed to not stopping giving aid to our neighbours. While we arrange more transportation for donations, or for those who would like to help by donating what you can we have set up this just giving page.
ALL of the money raised will be spent directly on the families seeking refuge in Poland. We will purchase essentials to aid Ukrainian families, especially children settling into their new communities. They will be distributed by our parents to those most in need. We will be posting regular photos, videos and updates to show how your donations are helping.
Why did we start this campaign and why is it so important to us?
Like most of our family, me and my sister Gabi grew up in rural Eastern Poland, 15km from the Belarussian border. Our parents, uncles and aunties all lived under an oppressive regime before emigrating to Western Countries.
Our mum and dad moved back to the village they grew up in five years ago, and at the moment, they are sleeping in their van, 6 hours away from home, to help Ukrainian refugees who have crossed the border. They are collecting money from their local villages and towns, cooking food and delivering essentials to those at the Polish-Ukrainian border. Some of our friends and family have taken families into their own homes.
We are extremely proud of them and it brings tears to our eyes every time we see a photo. We want to support them and the families they are helping as much as we can, and won't stop until this is over.
