Kinver High School has been working for the last five years to raise money for school children in The Gambia, the smallest country in mainland Africa. Gambian children usually start school aged 7 and complete basic education at 16 years old. However, access to education is varied throughout the country with only 63% of children in deprived rural areas receiving a basic education.
 
We have been working in The Gambia to help provide much-needed educational equipment for a rural school. To date, we have raised over £12,000 which has refurbished a library and bought a computer and photocopier for The Wordsley Preparatory School in Gambia and nearly built a new school.

Staff and students have visited this area of Gambia for several years to work with local people, as well as to meet the young people who are benefiting from the monies raised. Here is a short video where you can see highlights from the latest trip.  https://youtu.be/Id_Z4tVhqgk 
 
We need to raise more money to complete the school buildings. Once the children are in school we plan to raise more money to buy school equipment and furniture.     

We like to inform you of the challenge but also wish to offer you the chance to be involved with this really good cause if you have the time. Of course, we would gratefully accept any donations to the fund. We also welcome any ideas for raising funds, support for events or resources we could utilise.
