The Gender Identity Alliance Team will be braving the chilly waters of the North Sea, fully submerging ourselves into its icy depths on December 3rd 2016 at Seaham Harbour to raise money for Trans youths. The temperature of the North Sea averages around a freezing 6 degrees in December, which feels even colder than it sounds!

Many people under the transgender umbrella say that one of the things they miss most is swimming. Being able to get changed into a swimming outfit and get into a pool is something many people take for granted. It can make transgender people feel very self conscious because they may find it very difficult to deal with the body they have let alone show it off to others. Many are also subject to ridicule or prejudice. But swimming has such a beneficial effect for those who partake in it.

Half the profits raised will go toward swim wear which will be what ever it is that each individual needs- we will work with them to ensure they receive something that will make them feel more empowered and confident. The other half with go to trans exclusive swimming clubs around the UK, groups that give gender variant people a place to swim and socialise in safety and relaxation.
