Story

The Hanlon FC (Birtley) is supporting our local community by completing a 40 mile running challenge throughout February. 25 players have signed up to the challenge to run 40 miles each in 28 days. This is around three half marathons in a month.

The players, coaching team and committee members at the Hanlon FC know that COVID-19 has had an impact on all of us. Many members of our community have lost a family member or friend. Others have seen placed on furlough, seen their businesses close or being made unemployed. The team want to help those who need vital support to be able to access our local foodbank and support them through this difficult period.

The Birtley Foodbank in connection with The Trusell Trust and Gateshead Foodbank  supports over 600 families each week and has over 100 amazing volunteers. 5 Tonnes of food is distributed each week.  The foodbank works with over 80 referral units to distribute food vouchers to those who need it.

25 players & committee memebers have signed up to the challenge to run 40 miles in 28 days. We would greatly appreciate any donations whether its sponsoring the team or an individual to make their target!
