Story

I am thrilled to announce that on Wednesday, 28th August, from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, I will swim as many lengths as possible within a 12-hour window at Inverclyde Leisure’s Gourock Outdoor Pool to support Port Glasgow Otters, an exceptional disability swimming club.

As someone who is partially sighted, traditional swimming lessons were difficult for me. It wasn’t until I joined Port Glasgow Otters at age 12 that I learned to swim. The dedicated coaches and volunteers at the club not only taught me how to swim but also inspired me with their passion and commitment.

The impact of Port Glasgow Otters on my life has been profound, helping me develop resilience and confidence. Many swimmers from the club have become coaches, continuing the legacy of mentorship and dedication. This sense of family and commitment makes the club special, welcoming swimmers of all abilities.

Swimming has also introduced me to new friendships and a community that extends beyond the pool. These connections have enriched my life, providing support and shared experiences.

Since learning to swim, I have competed across central Scotland, swum 25 kilometers in two days, crossed the River Clyde, explored open water swimming, and participated in nine 5K swimathons. I even completed a 2.5K swim entirely in butterfly and plan to go further next year. Swimming has kept me fit and resilient, helping me face life's challenges.

Now, I want to give back to the Port Glasgow Otters by raising funds to support their vital programs run by dedicated volunteers. Your support will make a significant difference, helping others experience the transformative power of swimming.

Thank you for your generosity!
