    Story

Bridge Industrial have lodged an appeal against the original planning application for the large-scale box design which was rejected by the planning committee in March this year.

This appeal will be heard as a Public Inquiry, meaning that Barristers and legal professionals, will call experts in their areas to have their evidence cross examined over a 10 day period in February 2024.

Poets Corner Working Group, as representatives for the community, are allowed to apply for something called 'Rule 6 Status' which means we can attend and participate at the Public Inquiry, providing evidence for our case, putting forward expert witnesses and challenging the planning application one last time.

To fight this on behalf of all, we need your help. We need to raise substantial funds to obtain legal representation to support us during the 10 day hearing, where we will be proving our case, and to looking to secure our biggest win to date!

    A reminder about 'The Box'.....

'The Box' is entirely out of keeping with the existing business park and would lend itself very nicely to a parcel distribution business model. The independent transport assessment we commissioned based on this model, estimated there would be more than *900 HGV’s a day* generated.

This scenario would mean ridiculous amounts of traffic and noise, day and night, due to the 24/7 usage they seek. We know that increased traffic is killing businesses in Weybridge and that traffic is already at a very high level. We know that HGV’s already mount the curbs to get through Weybridge and that traffic to the M25 up Woburn Hill means a standstill to anyone travelling in the area. We know that the noise 24/7 use would generate, will damage local residents mental well-being and physical health. We also know that this would affect the “sanctuary for wildlife” as described on the website of The National Trust..

According to the local press, The Box will be built for one thing, a distribution centre which will ruin our neighbourhood, make the walk to school more dangerous for so many children, and create a living hell for any of those in the surrounding areas with the noise and sound pollution.

So it’s time to take David to Goliath once more, we have already won twice… and we fully believe we can do it again but we need your help. We are asking you to give as much as you can afford. We have given hundreds of hours to this campaign, and this part alone will require many, many more... but without funds we cannot pursue this any further.

Please give as much as you can to save our neighbourhood!
