Story

The way an individual dies is so important and can make a difference to those left behind.

After watching Ross struggle with his psychological and emotional pain as his life came to an end we, as a family, have decided to do something to help others that find themselves in Ross' position. Ross was 27 when he died of malignant melanoma just 8 weeks after diagnosis in 2017.

Cicely Saunders, founder of the hospice movement explained that some people experience total pain: physical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical struggles.

To be able to support adults (under 40) identified as end of life, we are wishing to fund psychological support.

The proposed charitable money would be focused on improving rapid access to emotional support for young adults (<40yrs) identified as end of life (both cancer & non cancer diagnoses).

Medical professionals at Colchester Hospital, St Helena Hospice and NHS Hertfordshire are supporting us in making this happen in practice. We have identified a gap in emotional support for young adults faced with the most difficult time in their lives.

Please support our cause by donating - no amount is too small and it will make a huge difference to the person receiving support.

Palliative care psychological support at Colchester Hospital is currently not available. It would have made so much difference to Ross so let us support others in his name. ❤
