I thought I was coming to a script read-through, perhaps to a discussion about locations, or to a meeting. What it actually was, was pure transformational magic."
CHANGING LIVES
We have achieved our immediate aim to purchase our first Underdog Crew Studios minibus. Thankyou to everyone who has contributed to make this possible - especially the 'National Lottery Community Fund' and our local supporters!
We now have the final push to cover the cost of our FANTABULOUS full vinyl wrap, courtesy of a great part sponsorship deal with Funkeefish.com. This is going to look so cool and you'll see us out and about all over Colchester city and around every major city event throughout 2024.

Community Fundraising
Our team and members are currently working on raising sponsorship , ready for a gruelling 3-hour community litter picking session to clean up the streets. We feel that getting down and dirty for the good of the community is a highly worthwhile cause that not only benefits the area, but instils a great environmental lesson in our young adult members. ‘The Underdog Crew CIC’ aims to become self sufficient by 2025 to enable us to continue our growth in a manageable and sustainable manner. Alongside our grant funding from local and national youth centric channels we aim to conduct up to three sponsored events each year, alongside our annual award ceremony and fundraiser.
In line with evaluating and devising activities that not only raise funds, we will always try and come up with ideas that not only educate and empower, but also have a positive effect on our local area and the people who live within the community.
Our current core funding has been sourced to cover our first year to two years’ core operations and has been carefully allocated to many different running cost ‘pots’. We are always looking towards our next round of grant funding and hopeful that this will continue through multiple channels over the next few years. We identified the need for a modern, and fit for purpose, minibus as a matter of reasonable urgency and time sensitivity. Our amazing grantfinding team made it happen!
There are several key reasons for needing this minibus- none more so than protecting and safeguarding our young members who travel to and from our studio and projects by public transport. We have recently witnessed several examples of negative, and potentially dangerous, experiences for our members from this. Having this minibus will allow regular pickups and drop off to eliminate these very real dangers, together with easy access to our studio for members who may not always be able to fund their own journeys. We will also have the added benefit of easy to organise day trips and creative studio visits.
All extra funding we raised from this platform will cover continued maintanance and ongoing running costs.
