    Story

It all started with an innocent conversation about Holy Island and suddenly Rev Darryl Hall (also know as Father Darryl) found himself committing to walking St Cuthbert's Way... a short, 63 mile, from Melrose to Holy Island. So, on Monday 21st August we are setting off from Melrose and will arrive at Holy Island on Saturday 26th August. We will meet our friends from the Parish, annual coach trip to Holy Island, where they can join us in the final leg of our pilgrimage. Lets all pray for, amongst everything else that is going on at home and abroad, some fine weather, please.

As our walk plans are now complete we are taking this opportunity to raise money for the Parish, individuals and groups that reside in Upper Nidderdale. This fund, Parish Community Fund, will operate under the control and guidance of The Upper Nidderdale Parochial Church Council. This means that this Charity is locally based and will make decisions with the knowledge and understanding of our local community.

Please follow our preparation and daily updates, live(ish), during our walk on our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/StCuthbertsWay/

We have and will continue to support many charities across Harrogate and Craven District but activities to raise funds for the Parish Community Fund will be a key part of our future plans. Any money raised will be shared 50/50 between the Church and the Parish Community Fund.
There are many groups from schools, children's groups, community groups and individuals that we hope will approach the PCC to request their support.
Over the last couple of years we have had vandalism and major repair work carried out on our Churches which has left a major short fall in funding which we need to fill.

    Please support our local initiative.

The morning of day 6 and we had a more leisurely start, due to the sea covering the causeway. 10.30 and the group who came up from the Parish to walk the final 4.5km across the sands. As they say on Holy Island, tide waits for no man, so we got down to the causeway and started. A bit squidgy between the toes at points on the crossing, a couple of slips on the mud and some wet shoes and we were across. 10 minute walk to St Mary's and our walk complete and rounded off with our Celtic Commion on the beach. Thank you for you support.
