Crowdfunding is the new way to raise money for a personal cause on JustGiving.
This year 2016 is our first year of being operational over the festive period and the Walderslade Together (WALT) Team would like to give our members the gift of time!
Xmas and New Year is a time when many isolated people feel even more disconnected from society than usual. Many businesses and services either shut down completely or run a skeleton service sometimes only offering a telephone service. Our Team members and Volunteers believe that we owe it to our Community to give them a better service than this, to be available to them in person even if it's for a few hours each day throughout the festive season.
As such we will be running 5 events over the Xmas and New Year period welcoming the people of Greater Walderslade to come and share this festive period with us. We want to be able to offer non alcoholic refreshments and snacks on Xmas and New Year's eve and provide a 3 course meal on Xmas, Boxing and New Year's day as well as the usual Xmas Crackers and small gifts subject to funding. We will have fun with festive tunes and games as well as sharing stories of Greater Walderslade's Xmas' past, thoughts of Xmas present and vision for Xmas future!
In addition for those who cannot make it to our venue we will be sending our "Mince Pie Marvels" out to do home visits for those who are isolated and who for whatever reason cannot get into our group sessions.
We will endeavour to get as many people as possible to our venue with the support of our Volunteer drivers and Volunteer escorts.
Join us in our efforts by either volunteering for us, helping us to raise some much needed funds or in kind resources. Join us in making Xmas and New Year 2016 a memorable one (for all the right reasons) for those living in our community who are isolated and alone.
We need you! Please do donate or contact us now to help us achieve an inclusive Xmas for all!
