Story
WYKEI is a not-for-profit, UK-based, organisation dedicated to supporting women and young people in the development of more liberal and democratic societies worldwide. Their education related to topics such as Human Rights, Gender Equality, and Conflict Transformation provides young people, women and children with information and knowledge that can be passed on to the community.
Jamila, founder of the WYK Empower, responded to young people’s hopelessness during the 2021 attacks on Gaza by recognising the need for a focus on hope and empowerment. WYKEI emphasises the impact that individuals and communities can make for themselves.
They are working in partnership with UNRWA, Women’s consortium and simply inner works to provide this project and to help support children and families to overcome the effects of conflict in Palestine.
With attention drawn to the ongoing trauma, grief and loss faced by people in Palestine, WYKEI’s goal is to provide a supportive and healing space for students, through therapy and breath work to navigate and overcome the emotional challenges they face.
“We believe that investing in the mental health of students is integral to their overall developmentand success.”
