I've raised £12000 to replace Altrincham's rotting wooden planters with new ones made from recycled materials, incorporating water reservoirs & seating.

Altrincham's residents are rightfully proud of the tremendous environmental improvements made to the town centre over the years. Altrincham In Bloom, a multi-award-winning voluntary group, has 13 planted projects around the town - one of which is their Community Planter Scheme. The town's streets host numerous square wooden planters in a variety of sizes, which have unfortunately reached the end of their lifetime, having rotted over time. Altrincham In Bloom, in conjunction with a combination of planter custodians and sponsors, creates and maintains beautiful displays in these planters and would very much like to continue but in a more sustainable fashion requiring less ongoing maintenance, and in a way that provides more functionality for town centre users. The proposition for this crowdfunding appeal is to replace these dilapidated planters with a variety of tasteful-looking planters with integrated seating (for people) and built-in reservoirs (for plants) to conserve water (for the planet)!
As you might imagine, this is going to be a costly business as it's an investment into long-term infrastructure. However, it will be positively transformative and particularly useful for those in our society who have limited mobility and need to rest more often than others.
We urge the public to contribute to the cost of what, if successful, will be a phased process of replacement.
