This is Drifter, he is a 10 month old border collie who is suffering from severe seizures. These pictures show him in happier times, but this little man is very poorly. We got him for my son when he was a wee 8 wk old fluffy bouncy puppy. He was full of mischief and drove us all mad wanting to play, but 8 months on he is a very poorly fur baby. He took his first seizure 3 months ago, rushed to the vets where he suffered another 4. Blood works showed nothing wrong so it could be epilepsy, he was sent home with medication. 5 wks passed and Drifter was bk to his lively loving self but then he took another cluster of seizures and again we rushed him to the vets. He had 3 this time. Its so hard to watch him thrashing so violently, all we can do is try and keep him from hurting his head which is so hard to do. More medication was added and again he came home. Three weeks later I woke to him thrashing in his cage, as I came down it was passing, but then it started up again I protected his head, crying as I tried too sooth him and when it finished I rang the vet who said he should be brought out again. I woke my son to come with me and we put Drifter in the back of the car, we had just turned out of my street when the 3rd one hit.This was the first time my son had witnessed it and the tears in.his eyes broke my heart as much as the sound of Drifter thrashing violently in the back of the car. When we reached the vets he was so exhausted from fitting that we couldnt move him. The vet came out and we eventually got him from the car to the surgery.
With his seizures being so violent and coming in clusters they r life threatening. More medication has been added but we want to get him an MRI to see if there is any brain tumours. The cost is between £800&£1000 so as a family we are appealing for your help to get Drifter his MRI in the hope that we can help him. He is a beautiful loving dog who deserves a chance, he is home again and very unsettled, please do anything you can xx
