Having never ran any more than 6miles in our lives Myself and work mate Rich McGovern have set out to complete 6 Half-Marathons(13.1miles each)starting with Iron Bridge half-marathon in March and finishing with Wyre forest half-marathon in July. We will also be joined by OC1130 Nick Lauder for our fourth event, Shrewsbury half-Marathon!
I am doing this to raise funds for my air cadet squadron, 1130(Wrekin) SQN ATC. This is a military youth organisation that offers a wide range of experiences for younger people between 12 and 20 years of age. They get a feel of military life; take part in a range of sports, adventure training and field craft, and with chances of travelling not just to places around the UK but around the world in cadet exchanges and overseas camps, it is the perfect way for youngsters to explore and gain some of the greatest experiences out there.
Unfortunately we are currently struggling to provide some of these opportunities as we do not have enough funds to provide services such as transport which is an important part as we attend events all over the UK. Due to this parents and staff have to take up their time giving lifts and sometimes we are unable to attend which is holding back the squadron. Additional funds would go to other equipment and activities that will enhance the experience of the cadets and give them new opportunities.
Raising these funds would mean so much to me and the squadron in that the cadets will be getting the services and opportunities that they deserve. So Thank you for showing your support.
