I've raised £2000 to Fund the installation of a community Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) at the Wilton Arms, Rhodes, M24

On 24th September 2021 we will be completing the Welsh 3000s challenge to fund the installation of a community Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) at the Wilton Arms, Rhodes, Middleton. The following people will be taking part in the challenge;
1. Paul Moore
2. Mark Smith
The challenge involves standing on the summit of every Welsh mountain over 3000ft within 24 hours and without using any transportation. In total there are 15 summits to reach, the route is approximately 30 miles long and the total ascent is 4000 meters.
Why?……..
Anyone can have a cardiac arrest, at any time. Often there are no obvious risk factors. An estimated 30,000 people a year have one in the UK. For every minute it takes to find a defibrillator and shock a person in cardiac arrest, their chances of survival reduce by 10%. With CPR and defibrillation, chances of survival can increase ten-fold. You don’t need to be trained to use a defibrillator – anyone can use it. There are clear instructions on how to attach the defibrillator pads. It then assesses the heart rhythm and will only instruct you to deliver a shock if it’s needed. You can't deliver a shock accidentally, the defibrillator will only allow you to shock if it is needed.
In the event that we surpass the amount required for one AED, we will look to purchase a second one for another location. If this happens we will keep the page updated with all details.
All donations gratefully received.
