Story

Woman to Woman is a fundraising campaign to help the homeless women on the streets of Plymouth. By raising awareness and creating a movement of women we hope to encourage women to look out for each other. Homelessness is increasing in the UK. In 2018 4,677 people were recorded as rough sleepers of which 642 were female. Although it is a terrible time for both men and women, women are far more vulnerable and attract many forms of assault such as verbal, physical and sexual.

We are showing our support by raising money to supply homeless women in Plymouth with a personal protection panic alarm. Our target is to purchase 30 alarms with each alarm costing just £5 each. Two charities in Plymouth are supporting our campaign by distributing the alarms to the woman in their care. One being ‘Shekinah’, who specifically work with the homeless, and the other being ‘The Zone’ who work with 16-25 year olds in many ways including homelessness. From the donations Woman to Woman receives we will be able to fund the alarms to hand on to Shekinah and The Zone to distribute to vulnerable females in a professional manner. All money received after our target will be donated to Shekinah and The Zone for them to use in their own manner. These alarms will give woman reassurance to sleep at night and feel safe on the streets of Plymouth by giving them personal protection and safety assurance. The personal alarm device aims to help you seek assistance when you are in trouble or danger. 140db alarm noise can draw peoples attention from a far distance and will keep going for 60 minutes if it is not stopped.
