    Story

The war in Yemen has pushed the country to the brink of famine and stopped essential supplies getting into the country including those for children. We are a group of colleagues supporting alumni of our university, who are are continuing to provide services for really sick and severely malnourished children in a hospital setting in Sana'a. They are brave, resilient and courageous and we are raising money in solidarity with them to continue these vital services.

Monies raised will help provide basic supplies for the children, essential transport for health workers to the hospital and subsistence.

Our colleagues have shared images with us of the situation in Yemen. They are very distressing and have not been shared here. If you would like to learn more about the horrific situation in Yemen, please see this report broadcast by the BBC.

      Update from the Page owner

Many thanks to all those who have donated to support doctors in Yemen. We have transferred money to them. They will use the funds to provide 5 nurses to keep their emergency room and intensive care unit open to treat children for the next 6 months. They say 'We really want to say to the whole world that we are not alone, you are with us and we thank you so much'. Also they have received some support from UNICEF to treat cholera and from MSF. We aim to set up another page shortly to continue giving hope to our brave colleagues. Thank you All.

Our brave colleagues in Yemen have asked for this poem to be shared to thank all the friends across the world who have given their support. “When tears fell from my eyes You were there to brush them away When I was lost in confusion You were there to say that everything would be okay When I stood before you falling apart You were there to lend your heart When I felt no one would understand You were there to take my hand When no one else was left to care You were there” Our thoughts are with our courageous colleagues.
