First Steps is a charity run playgroup for children in West Lothian with Additional Learning Needs. Back in October the playgroup were left devastated when their mini-bus was stolen along with seven car seats and two buggies that were inside. The mini-bus provided support to parents that cannot drive their children to nursery, and allowed the children to go on trips and enjoy the outdoors.

Although the charity have been able to claim back some of the money on insurance to pay towards a new mini-bus they are still a far way off from having the full amount to cover all of the expenses. Meanwhile, without the use of the mini-bus the children are missing out on quality time spent outside , and parents without cars are unable to bring their children to the playgroup.

Staff at the Yunus Centre, GCU are raising money for First Steps Playgroup this year by doing the Marcothon Challenge. The challenge requires running outside every single day of December for at least 3 miles, including Xmas Day and hangover days! We are also taking part in the Glasgow Santa Dash 2016 on Sunday 11th December to raise money for this cause. So please donate generously to help the playgroup and give us lots of motivation to complete this challenge!!
