I, Ruth, will swim in UK waters outside 40 times from Oct to April without a wet suit!!
This may sound crazy but my Winter swims are for a good reason! We are raising monies for people on the island of Zanzibar ,Tanzania who have mental health or neurological illness and need medicines. I worked on this beautiful island as a Community nurse some years ago and continue to support services there.

Many patients are children with epilepsy/brain damage often caused by malaria. We (ZAMHS ) help to support outreach services taking medicines to those living out in the shamba who cannot access or afford them otherwise. We are taking monies raised out with us next June and giving all of it directly to the Community outreach services. It may pay for a motor bike or whatever they need to help do their valuable work .
