Story

We are fundraising to help our amazing little boy, Zachary. Zachary has quadriplegia cerebral palsy, epilepsy and dysphagia as a result of a brain injury during birth.

Zachary is very intelligent. He has a wicked sense of humour, loves to learn, and has so much to say, however his disabilities mean that he needs full physical support to get around, has very limited use of his limbs and is non verbal. We are determined to help him achieve everything he wants to, and to give him every opportunity we can!

Unfortunately, a lot of equipment and therapy is not available to Zachary on the NHS, so we are fundraising so he doesn’t miss out and suffer from not having access to supportive equipment and life changing therapies. Some example of things we use and have had to or will have to fund are: seating so he can be comfortable at home, a walker to get him out and about exercising and being at his friends level, an eye gaze computer so he can learn to communicate with us, therapists to help him with this communication, to learn to control some of his movements and to ease his daily pain and discomfort, and our biggest priority lately; a wheelchair that not only supports his body fully but will allow him to access indoors, outdoors and even rough terrains! So many little things that parents usually take for granted have been very tricky and come at a big cost for us. We are so determined to keep finding ways to make sure Zachary not only has all that he needs, but is also having the most fun he possibly can!

We are keeping this fundraising page open to not only aid us in these missions but also to help us fund ongoing therapies that will improve Zachary’s daily life. We will have a number of fundraisers running over the coming months and so appreciate any shares, engagement and donations. Do let us know if yoy would be keen to help with a fundraiser!

Thank you so much if you have got this far. We never wanted to be in this situation but it is always humbling to see how wonderful, supportive and helpful people can be.
