FROM TRAFALGAR SQUARE TO THE CROOKED SPIRE – A GIFT FOR GAV

This October, Paul and his step daughter Hayley from Chesterfield are taking on an incredible challenge, walking 148 miles from Trafalgar Square in London to the Crooked Spire in Chesterfield. All of which is to raise vital funds for a much-loved dad and friend, Gavin Melen.

Gav is a devoted father of four and a familiar face to many in our local area of Chesterfield. He’s currently facing the fight of his life against a rare brain tumour and is fundraising to access life-prolonging treatment in Germany - treatment that isn’t available here in the UK.

Paul and Hayley begin their challenge on Tuesday 21st October and aim to complete the journey by Saturday 25th October 2025. This includes walking through Dunstable, Wootton, Wolverhampton, Ilkeston, and many more towns along the way, before finally arriving at the iconic Crooked Spire in Chesterfield.

Every step they take is for Gav and your support could make all the difference. Whether you can donate, share this page, or cheer them on somewhere along the route, your kindness will help give Gavin the fighting chance he deserves.
