Story

In 2018 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, and after surgery to remove the tumour and a third of my bowel, then four cycles of chemo, I was given the all clear.

Unfortunately, in 2021, after a routine scan, it was discovered that the cancer had returned. This time it was in the lymph nodes around my bowel which meant that surgery, chemo and radiotherapy wouldn't be effective. So, I'm currently undergoing a course of immunotherapy, a treatment designed to work with your body to fight the cancer cells and keep the disease at bay.

Rather than moan and groan, let's face it, who'd listen to me anyway, I decided to start raising some money. I didn't want to go to Disney, swim with dolphins or start on my own bucket list, I just wanted to try and help people who may be struggling. As Christmas was approaching, and I do love the festive season, I had an idea to spread a bit of Christmas spirit. But with the help of friends and family we did much better than we ever thought.

Since October 2021, with the help of our family, friends and many local businesses, we have raised over £5000 in cash and donations and have been able to put together Christmas hampers, gift packages, shopping vouchers and much more. We've donated into the Royal Cornwall Hospital, St Petrocs, local food banks and some Secret Santa gifts directly to families who were nominated by their friends and family.

This year we wanted to do the same, helping bring a bit of Christmas magic, where it is needed most, for A Goldstitch Christmas 2023!

You can find more details about what we have done previously on our website and social media, and would love you to give us a follow!

Times are tough at the moment and there are lots of people who would appreciate the extra support. Whilst we know that everyone is struggling at the moment and the cost of living crisis is touching us all, if you can help us by donating a small amount we would appreciate it.

Thanks everyone!
